Last friendly of the season sees SMHC pipped 2-0

The Bees, with a bare 11, made the trip to Lymm playing a team partially made up of players from the home teams 2s, several divisions above.

The first half was a close fought affair with the Bees creating the better chances. On another day, star striker Richard Greenhough would've bagged 3 or 4. His first, a sweep in front of goal, missed the net somehow whilst a well improved short corner routine saw the away team come close several times.

Lymm scored just before the break when a drag flick was padded away by Pete Lynch-Mathew, into Patrick Souter and into the goal.

The second half was in a similar fashion, with Simon Lamb and Mark Ives creating chances. Matthew Bottomley reverted to his favoured centre midfield role and was inspirational in breaking up play. After one short corner was saved by Dean Colasurdo, in for the 2nd half, he couldn't stop another as a well hit shot crept past his foot and the stick of Ed Holmes on the line.

Vivek Tharaken also picked up an injury and slotted in a centre back position, allowing Souter to try his hand at centre midfield. It clearly must have impressed after he picked up a joint MoM award with Michael Blackwood.
