On Tuesday, 18th July 2023, a momentous occasion took place as Golbourne Hockey Club welcomed SMHC former captain, Ian Whitehead, vice-captain Ray Lysaght (VC), and stand-in VC Alan Leonard, along with the current vice-captain for this season, Tom Hornsby. The purpose of their visit was to finally collect the long-awaited NW East Division 7 trophy, a symbol of their triumph from the previous season.

For Ian and Ray, this night held immense significance, representing the culmination of their relentless efforts, dedication, and determination in leading SMHC 2s and guiding the team to the much-deserved title victory in 2023.

To commemorate the achievement of the previous season's SMHC 1s team, Alan and Tom graciously accepted the title-winning banner on behalf of last season's captain, Scott Forster, and vice-captain, Ben Greenwood.

The event marked a celebration of both past and present successes, reflecting the passion and commitment shared by the players and the club as a whole.
